You have the right to hear .WAV files that actually pronounce these words. They are component of the adhering to on-line dictionary entries:tempehhttp://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionar...nary&va=tempehseitanhttp://www.bartleby.com/61/17/S0221725.htmlIt"s pronounced SAY-tan (via tan pronounced choose in sunlight tan).Keep in mind that Satan is pronounced SAYT-n. So the "t" is not pronounced as part of the initially syllable in seitan, however is pronounced as if component of the first syllable in Satan. Note that in seitan the vowel sound is exceptionally a lot pronounced in the second syllable, while in Satan it is not.

i say SAY-tahn. i don"t say the a sound like in "apple" (or "tan") because that sounds favor some one via an accent saying "satan," and because it just sounds terribly wrong.

The dictionary reflects 3 different pronunciationsVEEgunVAYgunVEJunI was training with a experienced hairtreatment line as an educator. The hairtreatment line is called ABBA. They are 100% vegan (VEJun). It offered to drive me crazy to hear them say that, so I corrected them one day........they said they pronounce it VEJun, and that it was the correct means to say it. Well, being a vegan at the moment, I protested that I was correct. Well, when I acquired house, I pulled out my trusty dictionary, and also looks like we were both correct.
Just had to resurrect an OLD THREAD:My sister dubbed today and also wanted me to provide her a recipe...She shelp "It"s that recipe you made with the TEE-PEE stuff"....Took me a minute to figure out WHAT in the human being she was talking around...
My mom looked up "vegan" in the dictionary and also chose that VEJUN was the appropriate pronunciation, also though it was just one of several. It makes me crazy to hear her say it that way. Whenever I correct her, she insists she got it from the dictionary and that"s exactly how it"s expected to be pronounced.Maybe it"s bereason I simply do not prefer VEJUN as a pronunciation.

As much as I know the founders of UK vegan culture Elsie Shrigley and Donald Watson pronounced it VEEgun. So that is what I am going with

Mmmm...nopoint beats a big dish of Tee-Pee...

I do not like the "vejun" pronunciation a lot either. Sounds too a lot like "veggin" as in "Oh, I"m just veggin" out now."
